i think when you're doing the most mindless things, you start thinking about the weirdest, most random things.

so last night i spent hours helping with sanding the concrete canoe. here are some of the things i thought about:

  • lung cancer. i guess this is very likely. especially when the past week has just been sanding the canoe to near perfection and part of the job was to inhale all that cement dust. add to that the styrofoam dust from last december. i seriously wouldn't be surprised if my lungs were now white with dust and at about 80% of its normal capacity.
  • skin cancer. this is likely too. i've been coming out to rowing practices since last august. this is socal so it's mostly always sunny and hot and sunscreen isn't really a good match with the gross back bay water. it's disgusting. i don't think this long term exposure to UV rays is good at all. haha.
  • back problems. this goes two ways. rowing and sanding. no need to say more about this.
  • heart problems. weekends at EZ Takeout and days of fastfood will eventually add up and give me some sort of a heart attack or stroke or something else. maybe bad kidneys too from all that salt (food + back bay water haha).
but let's wait 20 or 30 years before any of these things actually show up. i don't mind getting a fatal disease as long as it sounds cool. i mean, i'd rather get some cool-sounding disease than tripping on a broken sidewalk, hitting my head on the curb and dying. there's really nothing glamorous about that.
