it's now official. the world hates me. all the stars in the universe conspire to make my life harder.
today was my last first day of school. i also went back to work after more than a week of vacation.
early morning. i woke up at 2am. after hating myself for what seemed like 2 hours, i fell back asleep. good? no. my alarm didn't go off. i thought i set it for 5:30am, but it turned out it was set for 5:30pm. wtf. then i remembered i had to get gas, but hell i couldn't cuz my sis borrowed my gas card and hadn't given it back. so i had to go to my mom's work to get her gas card. then i was off to work.
mid morning. i was at work. my boss decided he wanted to get out of the office and took me to the paving project site. he said i had to see the ARHM overlay. so we went. gooood god!! after about an hour of chilling/hanging out watching the contractors lay asphalt on the ground, my hair and my shirt smelled like asphalt. ewww...try to smell the roads you drive/bike/skateboard/walk on and you'll know what i mean. except that freshly laid asphalt smells a hundred times worse. the smell sticks to you and if you're in really bad shape, your lungs will just blow over. so then i had to go to school smelling like hot asphalt. not good. not good at all.
early afternoon. i drove to irvine to go to class. i got to EPS a little before 1 and all the good spots were taken. as i was driving up to the 5th floor, i was half praying for a vacant stall. finally i parked my car and walked down 5 flights of stairs. it was still early to go to my first class so i decided to go to the bookstore and buy this book for my Searching for Wisdom class. i got there and the emergency fire alarm was going off. i ended up not going to the bookstore. boooo.
mid afternoon. time for concrete. mosallam is teaching it this year. boo. he was late...as usual. and he spent about an hour showing us these pictures of buildings made of concrete. i'm probably half-defective cuz while the whole class was amazed by the pictures, i felt like meehh. i guess it's because i've seen those buildings too many times on the history channel and the national geographic channel. things are only impressive when you've never seen them before. homework at the end of class. due in 2 days.
late afternoon. i went to surface water class. it was about a full 10-minute walk from concrete. then it was super packed. i had a lousy seat. all the way to the back. i didn't learn much except that there are 3 methods to measure precipitation. big deal. boo. once again, homework at the end of class. due in 2 days.
so that was my last first day. on the brighter side of things, traffic wasn't so bad and i was home at 5:30. but then again, after the first 2 lectures of my last year in college, i have 2 homeworks to do and they're both due in 2 days.
