after a 45-minute search, checking ALL the study room at the science library and all other possible study places at uci, my favorite ME and i decided to quit looking for the birthday girl. we went to dinner, and my naive favorite ME asked me the most interesting question, to which i happen to know the answer.
"why is that cute girl with that ugly guy?????"
okay, so first of all, girls are the most possessive kind of people. they see every other girl as a threat so they just date ugly guys. ugly guys don't get multiple girls so there's no threat of competition. if a girl dates a cute guy, she'll always worry about the other girls that are attracted to this guy. and guys are weak. the more girls they think like them, the more they get tempted to get more. girls just don't like that competition with other girls.
so the ugly guy ultimately gets the pretty girl. she's more secured because she knows there'll be no competition. and you might argue that if an ugly guy can get a one girl, doesn't that mean he can get another one and another one? wrong. because when an ugly guy gets his one girl, he becomes loyal to her. he doesn't have a very high self-esteem (on account that he's ugly his whole life) and thinks he can't attract a lot of girls. and why would he want to cheat on the pretty girl? remember, he already knows he's ugly and unattractive. and he likes being with her because for the first time in his life, people are noticing him. not that people are actually noticing him. he thinks they're looking at him, but really, it's the pretty girl they're looking at. but he likes it anyway.
so then, how does the ugly guy end up with the pretty girl? i think everyone knows the answer to this question. the ugly guy has courage. it's not the cocky, arrogant kind of courage, but the more sincere, genuine kind of courage. he doesn't ask the girl out because he knows he can get her anyway (this goes for the pretty boys). the ugly guy asks the girl out because he likes her a lot, and he's willing to put himself out there, even with the possibility of embarassment, and he's taking a risk just to get a chance with her.
and girls dig that. i know i do. it's the sweetest thing, especially when you know that this guy would do anything to get your attention and have a chance, even though he knows it's a long shot that he might not make.
